Reliability Engineer

A leading materials organisation are urgently recruiting for a permanent, Reliability Engineer to join their Engineering team. The reliability engineer will drive reliability performance with Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), along with other reliability tools and techniques. The reliability engineer will monitor existing predictive and preventative maintenance programs, historical trend data for early identification and resolution of reliability issues. As reliability engineer you will ensure compliance with technical maintenance performance indices (MTBF, reliability, down time in hours, MTTR and availability, cost) with analysis, dynamic programming of preventive services, hiring predictive services and maintenance, preparing and updating systematic maintenance plans, technological updating and customizations of the maintenance’s IT systems.


Key Responsibilities:


Lead/manage all activities in a Safe/Healthy way




  • Apply and ensure their projects apply the prescribed safety rules and execute Last Minute Risk Assessment

  • Motivate/train employees towards continuous improvement

  • Corrective, preventive plans


Review maintenance data




  • Capture and analyse maintenance data and equipment work histories

  • Provide recommendations to Production and Maintenance Supervisors Corrective, preventive plans

  • Measure results as guided by the maintenance handbook


Review production data




  • Review and analyse data from the Production supervisors/operators on equipment reliability issues

  • Provide recommendations to Production and Maintenance Supervisors

  • Production KPI’s and disturbance report

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities

  • Develop various maintenance studies, through observations, surveys, statistical analysis, visits, case studies, to aid in strategic processes and decisions made by the companies Action log system


Lead Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) program




  • Drive on a continuous basis a RCM equipment reliability improvement process involving all key actors, i.e. Production, Maintenance supervisors, Contractors, etc.

  • Lead reviews of equipment “bad actors” creating action plans for increasing reliability and monitoring performance vs. plans Action log system

  • Provide troubleshooting support to operating units on equipment reliability including emergency work reviews

  • Lead the root cause analysis process

  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis efforts for incidents triggered by documented procedures or at the request of Production


Skills and Qualifications


Essential Requirements:


Degree or background in an appropriate engineering discipline and experience of project management


Technical degree (bachelor level in mechanical or electrical engineering) or equiv.




  • You will have significant experience within processing industries e.g chemicals / materials etc

  • Understand variety of processes, process and Engineering concepts

  • Total quality and HS tools, Good understanding of industrial automation

  • Understand analytical processes for maintenance; RCM, 5S, RCFA, FMEA, SMED, etc. Team player

  • Excellent analytical skills
