Project / Site Manager - Marine

Location: Portsmouth , Hampshire, United Kingdom

Project Manager / Site Manager – Marine Ship building.

Supervisory experience in a Marine or shipbuilding

Our client is looking for a hands on Site manager / project manager to manage workforce, materials and projects through to completion as well as identifying new opportunities and cost accordingly.

The suitable candidate will come from a Marine or Shipbuilding background and have experience of working in a Mechanical or Electrical engineering environment at a supervisory / site management level.

Key responsibilities:

Supervise and monitor work, ensuring that all quality, H&S and associated procedures are met.

To identify, quote, plan and manage works, overseeing them to completion ensuring costs are controlled and quality is maintained.

Carry out duties with minimum supervision using own initiative to plan and prioritise workload within set timescales.

To ensure that staff have the correct security clearance and relevant PPE in their possession.

Ensure that all staff are adhering to correct working health and safety and company practices in addition to maintaining necessary records and inspections.

To request procurement of products and services as and when necessary to ensure the continuing successful and efficient operation of the business.

To ensure that they are contactable via telephone to suit the emergency/responsive nature of the company's core business and client base and may be expected to undertake on-call activities when required.

To complete written reports relating to works where necessary.

Qualifications and role requirements:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in marine or shipbuilding

Must have relevant experience in the Site/project management & supervision of staff and the monitoring of work output & quality.

Must be able to work as part of a team and be able to motivate staff.

Good communication skills including spoken and written English and must be able to communicate sensitively, politely and clearly with customers, staff, managers and suppliers

Be prepared and confident to travel when required.

Hold a full UK driving licence.

Must have good organisational skills.

Must be able to interpret technical drawings,

Be eligible for security clearance
