Senior Digital Controls Engineer

Location: Bournemouth

Hudson Shribman are currently looking for a Senior Digital Controls Engineer to join our very well established new client based in Dorset.

This is a permanent positio, working 8 hour days Monday - Friday.


Role responsibilities:

Planning and control of new product, special product and systems projects.

Liaison with, Product Management, Customers and the Sales organisation to prepare product and systems specifications.

Design of either digital/analogue new products, systems and controls interfaces.

Develping electronic interfaces and controls for products and systems

Work in conjunction with suppliers/contractors as necessary

Writing software and firmware control code in industry standard controls languages. C++/C sharp

The testing of products and systems in accordance with product specification.

The support of electronic assemblies in house and at suppliers.

Documentation of projects.

Evaluate company products both current and proposed and competitors’ products as required against a project or design specification. Analyse faults and report as appropriate. Monitor Test results and approve the designs. Check performance results against the defined specifications.


Ensure that designs conform with all relevant International standards as appropriate; all rules, regulations, Government Acts etc. (both Mandatory and Statutory), as they may effect the utilisation of the product and, audit the standards of performance in the Design work and its conformity to professional Codes of Practice.


Liaise with and give technical support to the production and the introduction of the new products and be aware of the capabilities of the Company manufacturing capabilities.


Liaise with and give technical support to the Sales and Marketing functions in order that the new products can be launched, projected and marketed effectively. Provide applications support for customer projects.


Monitor the market trends through all and every possible media avenue and resource with particular reference to Trade and Professional Journals/Magazines etc. and Exhibitions.


Evaluate the relevant data; prepare Technical Reports and where possible ‘Value Engineering’ reports; costings and coincidental with the dissemination of that intelligence as appropriate, provide Technical/practical assistance in identifying assessing product viability. Prepare appropriate reports.


Plan, agree and set objectives periodically and thereafter continually audit performance and progress to ensure that the objectives are being achieved, standards maintained and improved.
