Commissioning & Service Engineer

Service and Commissioning Engineer Required

Our customer who designs and builds special purpose machinery have a requirement for a permanent service and commissioning engineer.

Purpose of Role:

The role requires visiting customers premises to commission newly installed equipment as well as servicing existing equipment both in the UK and worldwide.

Each commissioning trip is usually between 1 and 3 weeks and on average you will spend 50% of your time overseas. When not onsite, you will be based in the head office in Peterborough assisting with technical support and testing equipment prior to dispatch.

The successful applicant will be a multi skilled Mechanical / Electrical and Software Engineer, qualified to HNC/HND Level. Experienced in fault finding on heavy industrial equipment specifically within the Chemically bonded foundry industry for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.


You will be conversant with PLC controls, Mitsubishi, Siemens and AB. Able to monitor and change PLC and HMI programs as required on site.

It is important that you are able to work on your own initiative in a professional manner both autonomously or as part of a team on site worldwide.


Main Duties:

  • Commission and Service Omega Foundry Machinery equipment worldwide.

  • Liaise with customers in a courteous and professional manner at all times to keep them informed of you travel arrangements and requirements while on site.

  • Complete the required report forms and acceptance protocols within an acceptable time after returning from site.

  • Follow up on the submitted reports to ensure actions are understood and completed.

  • Keep up to date with all expenses, reports and latest machine updates through helping test machines while in the office.

  • Ensure Quality & Safety are highest priority wherever you are working.

  • Help develop the Omega product line with continuous improvement and innovation.

The role is full-time based on a 37-hour week, working Monday to Friday 08.30 to 16.45. However, there may will the requirement to work outside of these normal hours regularly for travel and site working.


Option to join Company pension scheme after 1 years’ service. (employee 5% employer 7.5%) In addition to the usual public holidays, currently 8 per annum, there is an annual leave allowance of 21 days.


Salary : £27,000 - £32,000 + Weekend overtime, Overseas overnight payment. Annual discretionary bonus, Business expenses paid, company vehicle, mobile phone and laptop provided.
